Gilbert Henderson
2010 Inductee – Athlete, Trap Shooting
At 16 years of age, Henderson used his savings to buy his first gun for hunting. Ten years later, as a World War Two veteran, Henderson joined his first gun club and started competing in trapshooting competitions. In 1957, he defeated 2,050 competitors including the famous movie cowboy Roy Rogers at the Grand American Trapshooting Tournament. In 1960, he headed to Rome to compete for Canada at the Olympics.
