2023 Inductee – Builder: Basketball

Lynne AndrewLynne Andrew fell in love with basketball at a young age, first at North Park Elementary Girls Basketball in 1978-79 as well as Brier Park and Cedarland schools in Brantford. After success at North Park Collegiate, which included a trip to OFSSA in 1984, she earned a scholarship to Lake Region Community College in Devils Lake, ND and earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-American honours. 

In 1986, Lynne started at Montana State University (MSU) where she competed in the NCAA Division I level and named to the All-Big Sky Conference first team as a junior and senior. As a senior, she helped lead the team to a 24 and 6 record, advancing to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team and recognized as one of the top 40 players in the nation by being named a Kodak District 7 All-American. Lynne also played professionally in Germany in 1988-89. 

In 1990-91, Lynne was a student assistant coach for MSU while coaching at Bozeman High School. Upon graduating in 1991, she became assistant coach at the University of North Dakota. After four successful years at the Division II school, Lynne was offered an assistant coaching position at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, a Division I program. After two seasons, Lynne then became the assistant coach at Idaho State University. Four successful seasons and a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration later, Lynne was named the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. 
In 2008, Lynne transitioned out of coaching into administration earning many titles over 10 years and served as the Senior Woman Administrator. She received the 2012 Director of Athletics Appreciation Award for the many duties she performed for Fort Lewis College and the love and passion she showed towards their student-athletes. From 2012 to 2016, she was a member of the NCAA DII Women’s Basketball Committee, including Chair during the last two years. 

In 2019, Lynne took on the next step in her career and had earned a position with the NCAA. Now, as the Associate Director in Women’s Basketball at the NCAA, Lynne believes this is her dream job and plans this to be her last stop on a long and successful life in basketball.
