Wally Kalichuk

1998 Honouree – Builder, Hockey

Wally Kalichuk Walter Kalichuk found his true calling as a coach. In 1967, Wally participated in the Hockey Leadership Institute at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario and honed his coaching skills by leading many midget and rural teams. Some of Wally’s greatest accomplishments include leading the Paris Mounties to the Junior C league championship in 1967/68 and the Brantford Penguins to the Junior B championship in 1977/78 where he was awarded Brantford’s Sportsman of the Year. In the 1990s, Wally was the General Manager of the Paris Mounties, where he guided them to an Ontario championship in 1995/96. He remained with the Mounties until he passed away in 1997. Wally valued teamwork, dedication, integrity, and expected his players to show these qualities both on and off of the ice.
