Joel Balberman

2003 Honouree – Builder, Basketball

Joel Balberman was a founding member of the Briers Basketball Club and served in many capacities within the organization. Balberman was an organizer, Director, fund-raiser, convener, Secretary-Treasurer and President. Brantford became known both provincially and beyond for having two strong minor basketball organizations – Briers and CYO. The Briers Basketball Club grew from 32 players in 1978 to over 900 players at its peak, with recreational and competitive programs for both male and female players from 5 years of age to 19 years of age.
