Norma Wood During the 1970's, Norma Wood was one of the country’s most accomplished softball players. She began her national career in 1966 and from there her talent was obvious. By the end of 1978 championships she was the world’s leading hitter with an .818 average. Nationally, her teams won three gold medals and one silver medal, and she was granted the title of MVP multiple times as an all-star outfielder.
