Gaylord Powless

Gaylord Powless 1984 Inductee – Athlete, Lacrosse

Powless followed in his father Ross’ footsteps as a great lacrosse player. At age 17, he won the Tom Longboat Award as best First Nations athlete in Canada. He played with the Oshawa Green Gaels Junior Team, and helped win four consecutive Minto Cups, from 1964 to 1967. He won the Jim McConaghy Trophy for the Most Valuable Player twice, setting a record in 1966 by recording 71 goals and 120 assists. Gaylord continued to have a long career in the sport, playing for many teams across North America.

    GaylordPowlessGaylord Powless won this watch in 1974 for being the National Lacrosse League All-Star. He was a strong MVP player across North America for many years.
