Walter is the world’s best known hockey dad. Beyond being the father of the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky, Walter has been a very important builder in the sport. He began coaching his son when he was three-years-old, built a backyard rink, devised unique drills, and accompanied Wayne to his games. Walter is also known for his contributions to minor hockey through his support and attendance at tournaments and his assistance coaching teams. He is also dedicated to supporting numerous charities.
