Sara barber Jenkins Sara Barber-Jenkins began competing when she was nine years old. From 1956 to 1959 she was, without a doubt, Canada’s top female swimmer, and a great international athlete who competed at two British Empire Games, two Pan American Games, and two Olympics. At age 15 she had fifth, seventeenth, and eighth place finishes in her events at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.
