Lydia Vamos

1999 Inductee – Athlete, Soccer

Lydia VamosVamos started playing soccer when she was 9-years-old, and by the time she was 14 had scored 500 goals. She went on to play for McMaster University and the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team from 1989-1995. She was named Brantford Athlete of the Year and was twice honoured as McMaster’s Female Athlete of the Year. Vamos transitioned from athlete to professional coach and has led multiple winning teams.

    Team Canada Jacket & Jersey and Silver Medal

    At age 22, Lydia Vamos made her Team Canada debut and played with her team in this jersey and jacket from 1989-1995. She won the first silver medal with Canada at the 1991 CONCACAF Women’s Championship/FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in China.
