2018 Inductee – Athlete, Curling

Jim CarmanJo-Ann began curling at the age of twelve in Germany where she grew up in a military family. Her true competitiveness began at the University of Western Ontario under the guidance of Jim Waite where she went on the win two provincial Ontario University Athletics (OUA) titles. It wasn’t until later that curling was added to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national level.

Competing at skip and vice on various teams, Jo-Ann participated in 24 Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial championships and two Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, winning silver in 2013. Jo-Ann won gold representing Canada in 2007 in Japan and gold in China in 2012. Other international competitions included winning gold in USA and Norway and competing in Sweden, Switzerland, and Scotland.

Simultaneously competing at the elite level, Jo-Ann won back to back Ontario Senior titles, 2016 and 2017 finishing 4th and 2nd at the Canadian Senior championships. Additionally, she coached Team USA at the 2017 World Senior Curling Championship.
