George Campbell

1994 Honouree – Builder, Soccer

George Campbell started Brantford Minor Soccer in coordination with the Boys & Girls Club in 1969 with local soccer enthusiast John Wright. Over the following years, George was instrumental in the growth of Brantford soccer through his involvement with Brantford Youth Soccer, Southern-Counties League, Over-35 League, Over-50 League and the Brantford Falcons. During this time, he continued his interest in Scottish soccer, writing a number of books and articles on Scottish football history. Much of his football memorabilia is now archived in the Scottish Football Library at Hampden Park in Glasgow. George not only talked about growing soccer in Brantford, he dedicated countless hours to make it a reality, and for that we will always be grateful.
