Ted Beare

1994 Honouree – Builder, Journalist

Ted Beare Ted Beare joined The Brantford Expositor newsroom in 1950 and was appointed Sports Editor in 1953. During his 43 years with The Expositor, while reporting and writing a daily column, Ted was witness to almost every major sport event in Brantford and the surrounding area. He won four Western Ontario Newspaper Association awards and was a runner-up on two other occasions. Ted wrote two books, Brantford: Sports City and My Mother The Bookie and Other Tales from a Sportswriter's Pen.

He retired in 1992 and continued to write freelance for newspapers and magazines until his death in 2011.
