George Baker

1993 Honouree – Builder, Baseball

George Baker George Baker was a founding member of Brantford Minor Baseball Association in 1950 and, in addition to his other duties, served as a coach until 1966. His teams won Intercounty and Ontario Championships. After retiring as a coach, he served the association in administrative and executive capacities and was often honored for his dedication to Brantford Minor Baseball. George Baker also had many bicycling accomplishments; he qualified for the 1940 Olympics for the 100 mile but never got the opportunity to go as the Olympics were cancelled due to World War 2. After his untimely death in 1987, George had dedicated 37 year of his life to helping many young men in the community. The George E. Baker fields and George E. Baker clubhouse were established for his legacy.
